There are many English nouns that start with the letter K, especially in popular culture.
That means that these nouns are very often used and known to many.
Some of the nouns that start with K are special since they also come as adjectives.
But we won’t complicate the matter too much; first, let’s begin by defining nouns.
A noun is a word that represents a person, thing, place, or concept.
Every sentence in English contains at least one noun, except for sentences that need only one verb to make sense (“Drive!”, for example).
Nouns usually precede articles or adjectives and can be combined with determiners.
Therefore, a noun can serve as a subject, be replaced with a pronoun, and represent a state of something, a quality, an entity, or a concept.
For example: “Christmas is my favorite holiday.”
You can also look at nouns as words used to name things. Sometimes they represent touchable objects, and sometimes concepts, such as “happiness.”
Types of nouns:
- Common or proper nouns
- Countable or uncountable
- Collective
- Possessive
- Concrete or abstract
- Attributive
- Appositive
- Generic
